Through a video shot in a disused Oscar Niemeyer building, Burden of Proof reflects on the relationship between science and political violence using a circular narrative structure. The work engages with 1970s Italian film, from giallo to auteur cinema (Elio Petri, Dario Argento), examining how these cultural objects shaped an imaginary of the turbulent political landscape of the Italian Years of Lead.

 

The project was curated by Tretri Galaxie (Ramona Ponzini and Matteo Mottin) and was the winner of Artissima's Torino Social Impact Art Award 2022. It was realized with the support of Artissima, Cartiere Burgo, and Fondazione Compagnia San Paolo.
